Dune has been producing high-quality contemporary furniture since 1998. The designs of Tom Dixon, Nick Dine, Fabien Baron, Jeffrey Bernett, Harry Allen Victoria Meyers and Dune president Richard Shemtov recently found a new home in a new showroom at the north end of SoHo.
From Dwell — the teeny-tiny studio of architectural designer Alan Y. L. Chan that he renovated himself over the course of a year. Simple materials like plywood, concrete, glass and steel unite the 400 square foot space.
Florist and event designer Robert Isabell passed away in July — but the amazing collection of Twentieth Century art, furniture and objects from his Greenwich Village townhouse will be auctioned at Sotheby's in New York in December. The New York Times and Sotheby's take us into the private home of the public figure.
Q: Hi, We recently got a teak dining set and I'm concerned about how we're going to keep it safe. We have a 9 month old daughter, so I need to protect it in a way that's super durable but also safe. I've heard that I should use tung oil, but I'm not really sure what that is, or if it's safe. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I just completed a new staircase renovation with a modern, minimal aesthetic. I needed more storage so I built out storage under the stairs and removed a previous cable railing to open up the space.
Q: I've become obsessed with a shade of blue paint I've seen in a couple of Apartment Therapy House Tours (Lisa and Clay's Artsy and Calm Collaboration & Kelly Rae's Colorful Seattle Farmhouse. Any help identifying the brand and exact color would be much appreciated!

After Alvar Aalto's firm had outgrown the small studio space in his family's home the Atelier was built in 1955 in a residential neighborhood just a short walk away from Riihitie 20, west of the Helsinki city center.
Instanbul based Autoban — known for their contemporary furniture design since 2003 — also has an interior design branch of their business. These images from a recently completed apartments in the Beyoglu District of Istanbul showcase the firm's design skills and their furniture design.
Q: You recently posted my question regarding Noritake China — thank you! We narrowed it down to Yoshino and Rochelle Gold and finally went with Rochelle Gold as we will be using the china a)very often and wanted something adaptable and b)for elegant evening meals, and I think our red chairs will be perfect with the gold touch, and c)my husband and I agreed on this one…whew.
As a follow up, how about helping me pick cutlery and crystal stemware?
